CSE Colloquium presentation by Daniel Walter

25 February 2026

On February 25, 2026, the first lecture of the year took place as part of the Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) research colloquium organized by Professors Apel, Gerke, Kiendl, and Popp.

The guest speaker was Prof. Dr. Daniel Walter from the Institute of Numerical Mathematics (NuMa) at Johannes Kepler University Linz. In his presentation entitled

Optimal sensor placement in source location tasks

he provided detailed insights into current research approaches in this field.

The subsequent discussion and Q&A session reflected the strong interest of the audience in this engaging topic. Prior to the lecture, Prof. Walter also exchanged ideas with several colleagues about their ongoing research projects.

The CSE colloquium is held on a regular basis. Invitations to the respective lectures are distributed in advance via email.
