High-Speed Cascade Wind Tunnel

The High-Speed Cascade Wind Tunnel is an open return wind tunnel located inside a pressure tank which used to test linear cascades. The system allows for the independent variation of Mach number (compressibility effects) and Reynolds number (viscosity effects). This is achieved by controlling the static pressure level inside the tank, the gas temperature and the cascade inlet total pressure. Tests at engine relevant Mach and Reynolds numbers with a high spatial resolution are conducted with this test facility. Thanks to the operating condition similarity, the results of investigations are highly transferable.
