DFG Funds Second Phase of TRR 339 “Digital Twin Road”

18 May 2026

We are excited that the German Research Foundation (DFG) has awarded funding for the second funding period of TRR 339 “Digital Twin Road – Physical Informational Representation of the Future Road System.”

At Bundeswehr University Munich, we are very happy to continue contributing to this collaborative research initiative together with colleagues from RWTH Aachen University, Technische Universität Dresden, and the Federal Highway and Transport Research Institute (BASt).

We are especially pleased to continue the collaboration with Simon Schäfer as a postdoctoral researcher in our group and with Ehsan Hashemi from the University of Alberta, with whom we already collaborated during the first project phase.

Collaborative Research Centers provide a unique framework for the long-term and collaborative pursuit of innovative and challenging research questions. We are grateful to continue being part of this interdisciplinary effort and look forward to the next phase of TRR 339.
