Hacking for Defense (studium plus)
General information on the module:
The Hacking for Defense (H4D) module is offered at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich as part of studium plus and comprises 5 ECTS credits. It is aimed at master’s students and combines innovation management, entrepreneurship, and security-related problem solving in a practice-oriented teaching format.
The module is offered in the spring trimester and is conducted as a combination of seminar and training.
Content:
The module focuses on addressing real-world problems from the security and defense context. Students work in interdisciplinary teams together with practice partners from the Bundeswehr, industry, and other organizations to develop validated solution approaches within one trimester.
Methodologically, the module is based on approaches such as Lean Startup, Customer Discovery, agile problem solving, and prototypical development. Students analyze user needs, conduct stakeholder interviews, test assumptions, and regularly present their results.
