Prof. Jochen Pfalzgraf  

Full Professor of the Department of Computer Science of the University of Salzburg. Chair: "Knowledge-based and Learning Systems"
Head of the Working Group of: "Knowledge-based and Learning Systems. Mathematical Informatics" Official functions: Head of Department, June 2001 - Febr 2004; Vice Chairman, since March 2004.

Main areas of work:
Mathematical modeling approaches: Interdisciplinary applications of mathematical methods and results (including symbolic computation) to problem fields in Computer Science and AI; Engineering and industrially relevant Applications. Knowledge-based and learning systems, knowledge management, information retrieval: Theory and Practice. Soft Computing: Hybrid approaches using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Fuzzy Reasoning (FR), Genetic Algorithms (GA). Among others, applications to pattern recognition, image and signal processing, robotics, MAS modeling (incl. logic and learning in MAS). Industrially relevant applications.Simulations. Semantical Modeling: Categorical modeling of general relational structures (sheaf semantics, fiber spaces, algebraic semantics).  ACCAT: ``Applied and Computational Category Theory'' (and implementations with ML).

Dr. Frédéric Adam

Senior Lecturer in the Business Information Systems Group at University College Cork in Ireland. He holds PhDs from the National University of Ireland (NUI) and Université Paris VI (France). His research has been published in international journals including Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, and Journal of Information Technology. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Decision Systems (http://jds.revuesonline.com) and the co-author of "The Entreprise Resource Planning Decade: Lessons learnt and Issues for the future" (Idea Group Inc. Hershey, PA, USA; 2004).
He acts as a consultant in the area of IS implementation, especially ERP on a regular basis.


Main areas of work:
Executive Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Development of dashboards of information. Manufacturing systems, Social Network Analysis. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
