Ethics Committee of the Universität der Bundeswehr München

In October 2015, an ethics committee was set up at the Universität der Bundeswehr München.

The task of this commission is to assess ethical and legal aspects of human research as well as general ethical issues. Members of the Universität der Bundeswehr München can apply for an ethics vote at the Ethics Commission for projects involving research on humans, as is now mandatory for many applications for third-party funding in this area. In addition, members of the Universität der Bundeswehr München who are involved in such research projects can obtain advice from the Ethics Committee.

The Commission is also responsible for advising the university management on general ethical issues. You will find a detailed description of the tasks and information on the application and procedure in the Rules of Procedure of the Ethics Commission of the Universität der Bundeswehr München (GO EK).

In particular, the Ethics Committee shall examine whether

  • all precautions have been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the test persons,
  • there is an appropriate balance between the benefits and risks of the project,
  • the consent of the test persons or their legal representatives is available and there is sufficient evidence,
  • aspects of data protection must be observed when carrying out the project.
