The Embedded Systems Security (ESSEC) research group, headed by Prof Dr Michael Hutter, researches the secure and efficient implementation of cryptographic methods on embedded systems.
Our focus is on hardware security, protection against physical attacks such as side-channel analyses and fault injection, post-quantum cryptography and the use of artificial intelligence in security-critical applications.
ESSEC was founded in March 2025 and is part of the CODE research institute and the Faculty of Computer Science.
