FAQ

Who are the founders@unibw programs aimed at?

They are aimed at students, employees, and alumni of the Universität der Bundeswehr Munich who are interested in founding a company, regardless of discipline or field of interest, whether you are a researcher, professor, or administrative staff member.

I am a student or a soldier. Is it even possible for me to start a company?

Yes. As a student, you can learn about start-up topics and take part in our programs. We offer various teaching modules as part of the degree program, and soldiers are also allowed to found a company as long as it does not interfere with their primary duties in the Bundeswehr.

I do not have a concrete idea yet, but I want to learn more about transfer and entrepreneurship. Where is the best place to start?

No problem. You can begin by simply exploring our topics. Everyone is welcome to attend workshops, online events, or our founders’ meet-up to exchange ideas with us. Great ideas often emerge when talking to like-minded people, so sign up for our events and get inspired.

I already have a concrete idea but do not know how to proceed. Who should I contact?

The best step is to make an appointment with one of our start-up advisors. They are your first point of contact, will define the next steps together with you, and will refer you to other team members if needed.

Academic work and entrepreneurship – is that even compatible?

Absolutely. Starting a company may not seem like an obvious career path for researchers at first, but transferring your own research results into a business can be a meaningful career option. At the same time, you actively contribute to economic development.
