Interview with Prof. Daniel Slamanig in the 3sat science magazine nano

Prof. Daniel Slamanig was recently interviewed by the German science magazine nano (3sat) on the timely topic of online age verification. The segment discusses technical and privacy-related challenges of various age-verification mechanisms and provides a critical assessment of their practical effectiveness.

The feature, entitled The Dark Side of Online Age Verification, examines different approaches to age verification and their limitations in practice. It addresses questions of security and circumvention as well as the potential impact of such mechanisms on users’ privacy and data protection.

Successful IWSPA 2026 Workshop on Security and Privacy Analytics

On June 24, 2026, the 12th ACM International Workshop on Security and Privacy Analytics (IWSPA 2026) was held in Frankfurt, Germany, as a co-located workshop of ACM CODASPY 2026. The workshop was co-organized by Daniel Slamanig (University of the Bundeswehr Munich) and Amutheezan Sivagnanam (University of Houston).

PrivCrypt 2026 @ EUROCRYPT 2026

Together with Lucjan Hanzlik (CISPA) and Tjerand Silde (NTNU), Daniel Slamanig co-organized the PrivCrypt 2026 last week in Rome, co-affiliated with Eurocrypt 2026! It was a pleasure to bring together a fantastic community of over 140 registered participants working on privacy-enhancing cryptography, anonymous credentials, zero-knowledge proofs, post-quantum cryptography, and privacy-preserving systems.

Dagstuhl Seminar "Privacy-Preserving Authentication"

Prof. Slamanig recently participated in the Dagstuhl Seminar titled "Privacy-Preserving Authentication," held from April 19 to April 24, 2026. Dagstuhl seminars are held at Schloss Dagstuhl – Leibniz-Zentrum für Informatik and are invitation-based research workshop where around 30–40 scientists spend a week discussing a focused topic in computer science.

PQCrypto 2026

From April 14th to April 16th Sebastian Spindler attended the 17th edition of the PQCrypto conference, which was held in Saint-Malo. The conference program covered a wide range of recent advances in post quantum cryptography, such as new signature scheme constructions, the cryptanalysis of both various security assumptions and some concrete constructions, as well as talks about quantum security and the general design of protocols in view of the ongoing transition to post quantum cryptography.

YRCS 2026

From the 18th until the 20th of March, the Young Researcher Crypto Seminar (YRCS) was held at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut in Potsdam. Researchers from the QuSAC group attended to present and discuss ongoing research. Thomas den Hollander presented the QuSAC group's recent work on proving knowledge of isogenies.

Swissogeny Day 2026

On 20 March 2026, QuSAC researcher Marzio Mula gave a talk at the Swissogeny Day 2026, hosted at IBM Research Zurich. In his talk, “SNARK Magic and Other Tricks for Proving Isogeny Knowledge”, Marzio presented recent work on non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs of knowledge of isogenies. Such proofs are useful to demonstrate the possession or well-formedness of cryptographic public keys, to support multiparty generation of supersingular elliptic curves with unknown endomorphism ring, and as building blocks digital signatures.
