Dr.-Ing. Anjali Sharma

Dr.-Ing. Anjali Sharma is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Network Planning Group of the Chair of Communication Networks at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, where she has worked since March 2024. She earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering, specializing in photonics, from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), India, in 2023. Her doctoral thesis, titled Study of Sufficient Capacity Design in Next-Generation Optical Networks, was completed under the supervision of Professor Yatindra Nath Singh. Before joining the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, she worked as a Project Research Scientist in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay, where she contributed to the development of Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirements (ITSARs) for 5G security.

Her research interests include optical network planning, design, and dimensioning, network resilience and survivability, elastic optical networks, and the convergence of wired and wireless network infrastructure for 5G and beyond. She served as a reviewer for IEEE ANTS in 2023 and 2025 and for ONDM in 2025. She also served as a Technical Program Committee Co-Chair for ONDM 2026. In addition, she reviews manuscripts for the Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, a joint publication of IEEE and Optica, Elsevier’s Computer Networks, and MDPI’s Electronics. She is a member of IEEE and Optica.
