12:00 - 12:25 | Vortrag | Dr. Michael Kissner | Akhetonics

Titel: "Chip Security & Resilient Semiconductor Supply Chains - Can you Prevent Hardware Backdoors?"

Abstract: With the increasing integration of high-performance and AI computing into defense and security applications, much of the focus has been on software. However, every piece of software requires a processor—a chip—to run on, and these chips are overwhelmingly designed and manufactured outside of Europe. We can spend billions on cybersecurity to harden our software stacks for high-performance and AI workloads, but if the underlying chip is compromised, that effort becomes futile. In this talk, we will explore the mysterious world of semiconductors, examine how chips can be compromised with permanent backdoors using the simplest of methods, and, most importantly, highlight a path forward toward a more secure and resilient chip future.
