After joining the German armed forces as a conscript, Lieutenant Colonel i.G. Holger Prüßing took part in the officer training course for the general military service of the Air Force from 1996 to 1997. He then completed a degree in mechanical engineering at the Helmut-Schmidt-Universität/Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg, which he successfully completed in 2001. This was followed by an apprenticeship as an aircraft technology officer, ground technology officer and welding engineer. After various troop assignments, Lieutenant Colonel Holger Prüßing took part in the training course for general and admiral staff officers at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff Academy in Hamburg from 2009 to 2011.

Most recently, Lieutenant Colonel Holger Prüßing worked from 2015 to 2018 as a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Defence in the area of ​​strategy and deployment I 1. Here he was primarily responsible for IT support for the military communications and accompanied several IT armaments projects. Since April 1st, 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Holger Prüßing has been Managing Director of the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies at the Universität der Bundeswehr München.
