Abstract

In the western part of Zambia (Western and North-Western Provinces) a 1:100,000 Topographic Mapping Project started 1980. There is no existing triangulation network in this part of the country. A decision was made to use the doppler techniques for the ground control and the extension of the existing triangulation network. The doppler network was designed for mapping purposes.

Four doppler campaigns have been performed. The results of these campiagns have been merged into one final result. The organisation of the field work is shown in the report. The obtained doppler coordinates have been transformed to the national Zambian coordinate system und some comparisions between the doppler network and the terrestrial national network are also shown in the report.
