Abstract

The INSTITUTE OF NAVIGATION (INS) offers optimal conditions for the development of GPS-receivers particularly devoted to tasks of very precise measurements due to its specific experience and its close co-operation with the geodetic institutes of the University of Stuttgart. In particular the specific needs for the precise positioning of geodetic points and the application of GPS-receiver for photogrammetric purposes are of general interest for the INS.

The special geodetic requirements for various receiver components such as antenna, filters, processors and the operating conditions are discussed.

A summary of the present state of development is given.
