"Mars '94"

Produced at the Institute for Photogrammetry and Cartography of the Bundeswehr University Munich supervised by Univ.-Prof. em. Dr. rer. nat. Gustav Neugebauer (†) and Univ.-Prof. em. Dr.-Ing. Egon Dorrer and in collaboration with Prof. Xiuguang Zhou and Dipl.-Ing.(UAS) Marion Mächling.
 

These maps are products of the research program "Mars '94" sponsored by the German Space Agency (Deutsche Agentur für Raumfahrtanlagegenheiten - DARA). She were created by the Institute for Photogrammetry and Cartography of the Bundeswehr University Munich in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) and the Environment Systems Research Institute (ESRI) (Gesellschaft für Systemforschung und Umweltplanung mbH).

The following essential main features will be considered:
  • topographical optimal real-colour representation of the planet's surface,
  • shape-effectual relief modelling with free predominant northwest-illumination,
  • adequate topometrical information with contour lines and altitudes,
  • scientific established annotation.
