The Bundeswehr University Munich is located in the south-east of Munich, in Unterbiberg, a part of Neubiberg, next to Munich-Perlach, Ottobrunn, and Unterhaching.
Note that our campus is officially a military facility. This means that entrance to the site requires registration at the checkpoint, located at the main gate ("Westtor" - WEST gate) at the corner of Zwergerstraße and Universitätsstraße.
Our offices are in building 36, 2nd floor in European counting (3rd floor in US counting, since Europeans don't count the ground floor;-) ). We are in rooms 2204, 2205, and 2232.
Since the campus is quite large and building 36 is directly located at the NORTH gate, it's usually more convenient to arrange with one of our staff members to pick you up there. However, this is possible only for individual visitors (no groups) and must be agreed in advance. You cannot pass the north gate without being accompanied by a staff member.
Our official address is

A map of the buildings on campus is available here. Additional maps and directions are available here (in German only).
Take a long-distance train to
- Munich Central Station ("München Hauptbahnhof"), or
- Munich East ("München Ostbahnhof", ideal from Salzburg or Innsbruck).
From there, either take a taxi or use the subway ("U-Bahn"), line U5, direction "Neuperlach Süd" to the last station "Neuperlach Süd". From there, you can either take a taxi (ca. 8 EUR) or a bus, lines 217 or 199. Exit at Lilienthalstrasse and walk to the North Gate. A member from our team can then fetch you at the gate.
The bus connection is limited in the evenings and on weekends. Note that there are not always taxis waiting, and the station is still about 1500 meters away from campus. Walking is also an option but takes about 15-20 minutes. If you want to use a taxi, it's best to get one at Munich East (approximately 17 euros) or Central Station (approximately 26 euros), even if that is a bit more expensive.
The map of public transportation in Munich is available here.
From South: Use highway A8 northbound in the direction to Munich city center. Take exit 92b "Neubiberg" (93, "Unterhaching-Ost" is too soon), turn right until you reach Unterbiberger Strasse, then turn right again and immediately left to enter Neubiberg-Unterbiberg. You are now on Zwergerstrasse. Follow Zwergerstrasse until you reach the main gate on the right side.
From all other directions: Use GoogleMaps or a similar service for directions.
Note that traffic in Munich can be very heavy, in particular during peak times, and stop-and-go is the common result.
Munich Airport (IATA code MUC, ICAO code EDDM) is one of the largest airports in Germany and offers connections to and from all major destinations. A taxi from the airport to our campus is about 60 euros. A more economic way is to take the metro line S8 to Munich East ("München Ostbahnhof") and a taxi from there. The metro ticket is about 9 euros, and the taxi another 17 euros. You can also take the subway (line U5), direction "Neuperlach Süd" to the last station "Neuperlach Süd" and continue either by taxi (ca. 8 EUR) or a bus, lines 217 or 199 (exit at "Lilienthalstrasse"). The bus connection is limited in the evenings and on weekends, so a taxi from Munich East ("München Ostbahnhof") can be the best compromise between cost and comfort.
