Department Chairs

The office of department chair (head of department) is important for ensuring the quality of study and teaching. Each department chair is a full-time lecturer elected for a period of two to four years to manage the following tasks:

• adapting courses to fit the requirements set forth in the University's academic regulations
• ensuring that courses are competitive and correspond to the University's desired image
• ensuring that students can complete their studies within the standard period of study
• conducting academic evaluations and taking students' assessments into account
• elaborating proposals on changes and improvements to teaching and the curricula of the department's programs of study
• drawing up a teaching report - annually or every second year - which must be submitted to the Department Committee and University Management Committee
• ensuring that students receive adequate supervision.
