Kindergarden

Learn by playing in the lifecycle of nature

This is the slogan of the kindergarten „Sonnenwiese“ on the premises of the Bundeswehr University of Munich. A freestanding building and a large outdoor area invite the children to play, move and learn. Children between two years and school going age are being cared for. The focal point of our institution is to accompany the children's development towards becoming independent personalities according to the motto „Help me, to help myself“. Weekly fixtures are nature day, sports and english. These are complemented by projects according to seasons and specific themes.

The parent initiative was established in 1994 on initiative of the chairman of the personnel committee Kurt Brandl. It is sponsored by the state and community along the guidelines of „Netz für Kinder“ as a family orientated, mixed age group kindergarten under the framework of the Bayerischen Kinderbildungs- und -betreuungsgesetz (BayKiBiG). That two teachers and one parent are present to care for the children on a daily basis, is a distinctive feature of the kindergarten. The parents are also involved in organisational aspects. This constellation enables a very close working relationship between teachers and parents as is envisioned by the „Erziehungpartnerschaft im Bayerischen Bildungs- und Erziehungsplan“.
