Junior Researchers

Like any other university in Germany, the Universität der Bundeswehr München trains and educates talented young scholars, offering them support and guidance throughout their doctoral studies and leading up to the postdoctoral lecturing qualification. In these academic matters, the University answers to the Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences, Research, and the Arts.

In its effort to gain young academic elites, the University is well-equipped to face competition with other research institutions on a national and international scale. A high third-party budget, mainly in the engineering departments, enables the University to award degrees and offer attractive employment opportunities to outstanding young researchers.

Our top officer graduates may join the University’s academic staff for around three years, during which they complete their doctoral studies. They are allowed to interrupt the period of service in a military unit that normally follows the completion of their studies in order to return to their alma mater.

The Research Associate Council deals with interdisciplinary matters. Through its participation in the university committees, it contributes to the university’s self- governance. In addition, the Council is represented in the Association of Pre- and Post-doctoral University Staff in Bavaria.
