Microsystems for particulate life science products: volumetric momentum and temperature measurements in microsystems

The microfluidics laboratory at the Universität der Bundeswehr München was assembled for the investigation and development of volumetric techniques to characterize the flow velocity and temperature inside microsystems. This project continues to push the evolution of flow diagnostic techniques such as Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), Astigmatism Particle Tracking Velocimetry (APTV), and Thermo-Liquid Crystal (TLC)Thermography, to validate new analytical methods and complex numerical simulations used to understand the flow fields inside novel microsystems designed by the partners of the Mikropart research collaboration. New non-encapsulated TLC micro particles are developed by the institute of pharmaceutical technology at the TU Braunschweig in order to perform time resolved temperature tracking of fluids inside micro systems.
