Lothar Schmitz

Lothar Schmitz studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the Technical University in Munich. After receiving his diploma in 1975 he joined the Department of Computer Science of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich as a research scientist. In 1982 he was awarded a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) in Computer Science.
In the academic year 1992/3 he worked as a visiting professor at the Institute for Computer Science at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. The same position he held at the Institute for Software and Multimedia of the Technical University in Dresden during the academic year 1996/7. He also taught a number of courses in all three Munich Universities (LMU, TUM, and UniBwM) as a visiting lecturer. Submitting a thesis on "Program Development with Control Abstractions" he in 2001 at the TU Dresden qualified as a professor. In due course, he became Assistant Professor at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich.

- Programming Methodology, in particular Formal Development and Reuse
- Document Processing and Long Term Archiving
